A Slovakian NGO with expertise in innovative nonformal education, youth empowerment, active citizenship, civic participation, experiential and intercultural learning, rural capacity building, and eco mobilization.
ADEL Slovakia is an NGO from Slovakia focusing on nonformal education, youth empowerment, promoting active citizenship, civic participation and volunteering, and encouraging a responsible attitude towards nature, animals, and protection of the environment. ADEL implements diverse projects both nationally and internationally, including trainings, youth exchanges, research and analysis, capacity building, professional exchanges, information awareness campaigns, conferences, and other educational activities. Their projects and activities are based on the approaches of nonformal education, experiential and intercultural learning, social inclusion, and active participation. One of the core missions of ADEL is contributing to the development of rural areas and disadvantaged regions and providing education to youth. ADEL is an expert in innovative and participatory learning and training methods in environmental education. Selected relevant former project experience include Citizens Occupy Rural Europe (Europe for Citizens project), strengthening EU values and promoting active participation as European citizens in rural areas, Play 4 Sustainable Environment, empowering youth in the fight against environmental challenges in 6 countries worldwide, and Second Chance spreading eco-patriotism among young people and promoting a positive vision of ecology. ADEL has a 10-member staff with project management, communications, event management, and informal education and participatory methods background.
Project Role
In the project, ADEL will be responsible for participating in the research, organizing trainings, workshops, and eco-placemaking activities in Slovakia, participating in the visual storytelling event, organizing local town hall meeting sections for the closing conference, and local communications and dissemination. Because of ADEL’s widespread experience in youth activation and mobilization, and creative participatory methods, it will be the lead partner in the hackathon event.
Project Activities
In Slovakia, project activities will be implemented in rural areas in the East, which is a highly disadvantaged part of the country, far from the capital, with significantly fewer economic opportunities. In Rural Voices, Slovakian respondents stressed the need for more local community action, more cooperation between rural stakeholders, and more capacity-building regarding active citizenship.
